Check the safety-sensor path

Look for objects, debris or obvious misalignment around the photo-eye sensors near the floor. Many openers will reverse or refuse to close when the safety beam is interrupted.

Watch how the door moves

Grinding, shuddering, a crooked edge, or a door that binds at the same spot can point to a mechanical issue rather than a simple opener-control problem.

Avoid defeating safety devices

Do not permanently bypass photo-eye sensors or increase opener force to overpower a binding door. The cause should be identified and corrected.
